The arms are quite stiff, in a good way. They can be moved easily enough, but they wont budge with the kind of pressure you would use to solder something. Magnifier lens is very good too.

Good product idea, useful item..execution could be better. Magnifying glass is too heavy and droops when positioned at certain angles, clamp is not well thought out.

Pros:Positioning mechanism in arms very solid, so anything gripped is unlikely to move.Having 4 arms allows for complex structures - multiple wires being soldered together, for example.Magnify glass quite powerful, so good view of work possible.Cons:Base clamp is not very solid - the plastic used is quite soft, so cannot grip very well. However this problem is easily solved as the base has holes for screw fixingCroc clips on the ends of the arms are not very big, so cannot grip thicker items. OK for things like PCBsCroc clips only work with friction push fit attachment to the arms. So any rotation of the workpiece in relation to the arm tends to loosen the clip from the arm. This is the biggest problem with the unit, as it makes levelling something like a PCB very difficult.Overall the usefulness of 4 solid arms plus magnifier outweighs the problems - but only just

many usefull features, plenty of clips, fixes to workbench/vice well.

the helping hands were made extremely cheaply and 1st of all i was not able to even screw them into the housing they go into without 1st getting rid of excess plastic. once i screwed it on a little bit i was not able to back them out at all. the crocodile clippers were stuck extremely hard to themselves and i was not able to open them all without breaking some in the process.Overall don't buy this product it will only anger you spend a bit of money buy something better...
