We bought these to keep our 2 year old out of my 6 years Alex drawer system from Ikea and away from all the art supplies stored inside. We have had them about 2 months now and the two year old has not been able to rip them off and has kept him out, and my six year old has no issues using the opening latch or closing them again. I imagine a 4 1/2 - 5 year old would be able to successfully use these latches as well.

Edit: changed my review to one star after my 17-month-old successfully broke one off a cabinet it was supposed to protect him from. We also had two come unstuck and fall off of a surface we thoroughly cleaned with alcohol and dried before applying. Would rate zero if I could, their one job is to protect my toddler.These are great but sometimes the circle part that snaps onto the other side just drops off the band and falls apart on the floor. It snaps back together easy enough. The hard part is wrestling it away from the angry toddler who has already decided it belongs to him...

i am not surprise on adhesion not holding on...., do not know when was anything like this ever held, always had to apply small amount of super glue (still comes off if need to).... i used mine on a refrigerator in garage and adhesive held for a week (i did clean surface before applying it), then it just came off and i had to use super glue, now it stays put, i am even able to make it more tighter then before and i love it!!!

It woks for infants but doesn’t stand up to toddlers. Our toddler broke through 6 of them within the span of 6 weeks due to the plastic being rather brittle. The adhesive holds up on the refrigerator but not very well on other materials.Pro-Easy to install-When unattached the long arm slides out of the wayCon-The adhesive does not hold up very well on most surfaces-The plastic snaps easily

I use these to keep my dogs out of the trash, they have managed to outsmart and destroy several other locks, as well as my family members getting frustrated with other locks and breaking them. These ones have been working very well for the past few months, no dog, adult, or extra motivated toddler would be able to break this lock.

We have a very busy and lightning-fast two-year-old grandaughter who insists that every room in our home should be inspected and then promptly reorganized. These serve as excellent "lock-outs" to keep her from accessing areas that could be dangerous.

Only 2 out of the 6 worked. I cleaned and dried the surface I was putting them on and only 3 of them stayed on correctly and out of those 3 only 2 actually opened. I tried for about 5 min to unclip the 3rd one before I finally stopping because of having awful bruises on my fingers. I was debating between these and 2 other ones I wish now that I would’ve gone with one of my other choices. Hopefully I can still return these!!!

To be honest it’s not what I had hoped for , I’m using it on my stainless steel fridge and the adhesives keep coming off no matter how loose or tight I set it. I’m already on a second because the first broke . Time will tell . But for the money I guess it’s worth it .
