Emeril's Potluck: Comfort Food with a Kicked-Up Attitude Kindle Edition

The book is kind of a ripoff. I don’t know if our New England grocery store carries Emeril products, but I wouldn’t I know where to look for Emeril’s essence. A quick look at the recipes shows most of them require Emeril’s Essence. Buyer Beware.

Virtually every recipe requires you to add Emeril’s Original Essence or some other Emeril products, so you’re getting a cookbook that has mystery ingredients with no equivalents. Very poor. No pictures either

I had a copy of this a few years ago. In fact I kept it on our house boat because that is where I regularily cooked for a "crowd". Well, in leaving the house boat life behind, I lost the book. I was thrilled when I found this copy and am findng that I am using recipies from it weekly. It has a receipe in it that is a favorite of one of my grandson's, Every receipe in it becomes a favorite.

I was so disappointed with this book. I was expecting to find new potluck recipes I could make; instead, it had old recipes with no new take on it. I felt it was just an ad for Emeril's spices.

There were so many good recipes in there, I didn’t know where to begin. Good cocktail recipe section too.

Very nice book I have all of Emeril 's cookbooks and they never let me down for old and new recipes.

I checked this out on a whim from the library. Emeril's recipes are usually very good. They use easily found ingredients in flavorful combinations. I have to admit that after all these years and many celebrity chef's later it is his recipes that stand the test of time.I realized while reading that because this book is designed for potlucks that the recipes in the book are for larger quantities. I usually have to double most recipes that I try.As far as the use of Emeril Essence in the recipes. I am familiar with his spice mixtures so this did not throw me off. It shouldn't put you off either. They are comprised of spices you probably have in your cabinet. Emeril's recipes are really comfort food with pizzazz! I've tried several recipes from this book, and they were very good. The Flourless Chocolate Cake is heavenly. The Swedish Salmon and Potato Casserole is perfect for an elegant lunch. I have several of Emeril's books and was enthusiastic about this one, because I cook for a crowd a lot. However, aesthetically the book is a big letdown. There are no photographs except for 7 glossy pages in the middle. I'm a visual person and prefer to see how the finished dish should look, especially before I decide to try it.
