Range of activities
I really like these bond spelling and vocabulary activities. It includes a lot of word searches and activities that include words that look the similar. These are really good activities to do as a class to help build children’s vocabulary. Unfortunately, not all children are reading and as a result they don’t have the vocabulary. This helps to fill in some of those gaps (still far from a substitute to reading of course).

good price
The only advantage of buying this book is that the price is cheaper than the bookstore, but the disadvantage is that when you buy it, you can't see the contents, don't know if it is what you want, just like I bought this time, it doesn't feel like the book I need, my advice to you is, go to the bookstore first, determine which one you want, and then come back Amazon to buy.

Bond SATs Skills - Spelling and Vocabulary 8-9 years
Bond have always been known for workbooks aimed at the 11+, but now they have a whole new range of books which are for the Key Stage 2 SATs exams. The books are for four different age groups (8-9 years, 9-10 years, 10-11 years and 10-11+ years stretch workbook) and cover Grammar and Punctuation, Spelling and Vocabulary and Arithmetic. There are also Vocabulary Flashcards and Times Tables Flashcards available in this series, as well as a Times Tables workbook. As reviews for workbooks tend to be cross posted by Amazon, I will make it clear that this review is for the Spelling and Vocabulary Workbook and for years 8-9. If the review appears on other books, then please note that I did not post it there. This book has ten units of activities, which cover the spelling and vocabulary element of the National Curriculum and are useful not only for SATs exams, but also for children preparing for the 11+. The units include word lists, helpful hints, a pull out answer section, a progress chart at the back of the book and each page allows children to score their marks as they go along. This is full of crosswords, word searches, cloze exercises, anagrams, synonyms and antonyms and puzzles.Like all Bond workbooks, this one is well laid out. I like the fact that – although units can be four or five pages – children mark each page as they go along (or you can). This means that they get feedback instantly and it also means that you can give them one page to complete at a time, if you do not want them to do a whole unit at once. This is good ‘extra’ homework and is also useful for home schooling or tutoring. I like this very much and suspect there will be similar books for KS1 in the future.

An excellent purchase!
My 8 yr old son, who runs away from vocabulary, has been finding this book interesting enough to ask for it himself. What more can you ask for - highly recommend!

Well written
Another excellent work both from the Bond new KS2 range,Well made with a glossy soft back cover. There is an answer sheet in centre which can be taken out.Black and white with loads of space for the student to write the answers. Good quality paper as well. This workbook contains ten grups of activities, giving everthing needed for the spelling and vocabulary part of the National Curriculum. Great for SATs exams, and so on. Also good for older people who would like to revisit with this subject. I like the helpfull suggestions.Excellent

Good
As with all of the other Bond work books we've tried recently, this book is really clear with plenty of practice in it. it supplements my son's school work well, and helps him to stretch himself further. There's a good mixture of questions to keep it interesting and there are 10 units, although each unit doesn't have a different title but they do each focus on certain types of spelling patterns, like words ending in the same way. There are answers in the middle if needed, and a progress sheet at the back.

Clear, concise learning resource
Very good study aid for children in the lead-in to their SATS. It's a well organised workbook with a pull-out answers section and is suitable for all abilities. Clear, concise and an effective learning resource. Can't go wrong.

puzzles and games to help build vocabulary
This book works on spelling and vocabulary by way of puzzles and quizzes - crosswords, wordsearches and other activities that are fun but also help reinforce learning. This is rapidly becoming a favourite learning resource.

Wonderful new series from THE 11+ authority
Wonderful new series from THE 11+ authority. Highly recommended for teacher and parents alike, an alternative resource for those pupils who don't go on to a selective high school, but still want to do well in SATs.

The Name's Bond....
My Year 5 son is really struggling with all aspects of schoolwork at the moment and we plan on arranging some extra out-of-school tuition to help him. After all, there is only 18 months before he starts secondary school so we need to something for him as soon as we can.As a stop-gap we've introduced him to these Bond SATs Skills books; we have three. This, spelling and vocabulary. This spelling book is well-laid out and explains concepts easily and in bite-sized chunks which is particularly important for someone like my son who likes to learn in a visual way.He does have a weekly spelling test at school and I can definitely see an improvement in his marks since we started working through this book.

A must for any child taking SATs
Overall a great support for any child about to do their SATs. The book is set out really well, with significant space to write your answers. The answer sheet is placed in the middle of the book but can be removed. The book can be used for all abilities, and working through the book you will see a distinct improvement. The helpful suggestion page is also useful for children and parents

Bond quality
Bond books and papers have always been great quality and these have not disappointed. They are perfectly pitched for the target age range and are well laid out and easy to follow. I thoroughly recommend I'd you want to give your child a little extra practice to develop chore skills for testing time.
