This is not the greatest for a wire grate. The hook needs to be longer or extended farther down from the horizontal stabilizing bar. While it can lift the wire grate up, it doesn't stabilize it very well and it still wobbles. Also, the handle is almost 90 degrees, almost perpendicular to the grate surface, when "hooked" into the cross-bar under the wire grates. I do not recommend this product if you have the standard wire grates.

This product makes removing grill grates simple. It allows you to move the grates so you can put charcoals in your grill or clean the grates. It is made of a strong cast iron and is quite durable. The material allows you to lift up heavy grates with ease. My previous grate lifter snapped right above the section that is placed between the grates, Hopefully this one holds up better.

I bought it to lift my bisected cast iron grate off my big green egg. While it works to lift it off, it doesn’t provide or of stability and control. For that purpose, I recommend a grate gripper. I got a grate gripper meant for a stainless steel grill grate, but it works just fine on my cast iron grate.

This product is too small to lift the grates on my grille.

Just like the one my parents have. It is one of the best purchases a you can get. It's inexpensive, well made & will last a lifetime. My mom still uses one that has been a constant tool for over 30 years. It's stupid not to buy one.
