AB Shell and Tube Heat Exchanger 3600kBtu Stainless Steel 316L Opposite Side Ports 4" & 2 1/2" FPT for Pool/Steam/District Heating, Industrial Process, Desalination and Water Treatment

I selected this to be oversized for my application. I am using it as the heat exchanger in an indirect hot water heater, meaning that a loop from the boiler system heats domestic hot water, separated by this heat exchanger. External thermostats will control the two loops. I decided not to use natural convection on the domestic hot water side, flow will be forced by a ( wet rotor ) pump.Contrary to the directions that come with the heat exchanger, I am running the feed water ( heat supply ) through the shell. The boiler loop is closed, so scale buildup will be minimal. The domestic hot water ( heated side ) of the heat exchanger will be through the tubes, which should be easier to clean in case of scale buildup.The heat exchanger looks good. We fabricate stainless steel ourselves, I did not make one because of time limitations. The unit is a good value compared to the time and material I would have had in making one.A few weeks of use will show if I need to make any changes to my application ( the way I am using it ).I bought a second, larger unit. Amazon reviews doesnt seem to separate the first purchase and the second.Review #2. I bought a 300k version from Amazon Warehouse. Uh, used does mean used. This one had been installed. There is some scale in the tubes. The tubes are stretched as if ( probably) very high pressure went through them.I am not sold on the spiral tube forming. I will do a mild pressure test on this, if it holds up I will use it.

Exchanger was run as seperate zone off of oil boiler to heat 6000 gallon pool. raise temperature 8* in 1 hour. Oil boiler used for heating house with 2 heat zones and 1 for exchanger to heat pool. located in Pa.

I purchased two of these exchangers less than a year ago. Both units have significant rust developing despite them being made of supposed 316ss.

I installed this to my outside wood boiler and it keeps the pool at 86° with 130° degree water from the boiler when the outside temperatures run from 70° to 85° during the summer. I haven't gone through a Fall or Spring yet but I'll just turn up the boiler if the temperature gets too low. No thermostat needed in this case but I might hook one up in the future anyways.

It’s working. In Colorado the nights can be chilly so I set up a solar heater for the pool. This heat exchanger is working. The 6000 gallon pool gains from 2-4 degrees with about 3 hours of pump run. I did not realize however, that the shell and tube exchanger shipped from China. But it’s a nice unit.

I'm using this heat exchanger as coolant cooler on my diesel irrigation pump, in addition to the radiator. It works perfect! before it was running about 230F now it runs about 160F. I use the irrigation water, to cool the coolant. A real Quality product!

Leeks on weld joint small drip

We have installed about 6 of these for pool heaters over the last 6 months. One of these has corroded somehow and leaking. I don't think this is chemical corrosion because we installed two in series, and the first one is fine, the second one corroded after 3 months of use
