Triphala is a wonderful Ayurvedic herbal anti-inflammatory preparation that has many health benefits. It is a HUGE 2.2 pound bag...so personally, I won't be running out soon! It has a mild to moderate laxative effect, depending on how much you take, which can help improve bowel health through regularity and reduction of inflammation to the gastrointestinal tract...very important to those prone to bowel problems which can be exacerbated by the use of opioid pain medication. Also, it's helpful in reducing cholesterol levels. I have been taking 3 capsules ("00" size) 2 to 3 times a day that I pack myself with the help of a manual capsule packer. I take these capsules when I need help controlling my nagging joint pain due to the accumulative injury to my back as well as other wear and tear, osteoarthritis-type joint pain. I've had very good results with it. Since I am unable to tolerate any of the prescription or over-the-counter NSAIDS at all, not even chewable baby aspirin, this has truly been a God-send for me in relieving my pain without the stomach upset or symptoms of ulcer formation NSAIDS cause as well as the problems opioid pain medications cause. I also love that Triphala is actually also good for dental health. Highly recommended for those who get good relief from NSAID's but are unable to tolerate them due to the GI distress they frequently cause. If it causes you any indigestion, try taking it with a meal instead of on an empty stomach; I think taking it as a tea or with food would also help alleviate that issue. I'd suggest checking for any medical problems that would contraindicate using Triphala and also check for any medication incompatibility. I've been an RN for many years and I don't give my endorsement lightly. Triphala it one of several herbal preparations I make sure I have on hand.What I specifically like about this brand is you receive a large volume for a good price. Also, like that it comes in a foil pouch that helps protect it against moisture, unlike the paper pouches you see with some brands. The seal on the pouch is very difficult to reseal though, once it get's powder in the seal thread...so be prepared to place the powder in a very large airtight bottle to place it in to keep it fresh. It is very fine grade which helps your body absorb it.

The powder is very fine and pure. The taste is naturally bittersweet so, mix it with a smoothie and you can't barely taste it.

Unfortunately I sent it right back due to it expiring within 7 months. I don't want to have to worry about it going bad when I still have half a bag to go through. I'm getting another one shipped so hopefully the expiration date will be further out. If not I'm gonna keep this review at 1 star. If I get one that is newer then I'll add 5 stars. Such a good deal except due to the expiration date which makes it not a good deal.Edit: I received another bag and it has the same expiration but this time there was a hole in the bag and the contents leaked out. So lame. Had to drive to the store twice to return this product.Edit#2: I purchased organic India's version and the expiration date is 2024. It only cost a little bit more per lb. Worth the price difference. Also organic India has way better packaging.
