I didn't really know what I was looking for in placemats but this set stood out and I love the look. They are made of thick materials that stay put, so far so good.

This set of placemats is a big hit at our household. First, they are very well made, woven in a nice braided circle which gives plenty of support and protection for our table.They are a mid- to heavy-weight weave, and really don't feel or look like the flimsy imitations that you see in some discount department stores. Instead, the mats cushion well against scratches, scorching, heat, water stains, etc. In addition, they have a nice appearance that's a cross between farmhouse and colonial styles, so they seem appropriate in pretty much any setting.They come in a set of 4, but each of the 4 is a separate, coordinated shade of gray (in my case), but very nice. (I would say that the only downside is that if you want 4 of the same color, you'd need to buy 4 sets). If that's not an issue, you'll have a nice-looking set of mats.
