Easy to Understand!
I have a '97 Ford Explorer. This Manual helps me easily locate and understand the parts on my truck! Lots of pictures and easy to understand directions!Con is the years spread it is for. Pictures might not show exact place where a part is for the exact year of your truck. I had a time finding my pvc valve!Aside from that, I Highly recommend this book for anyone owning a Ford Explorer!

Ok for most repair work
Like all the other haynes manuals i have purchased this one did a decent job of giving recommendations for maintenance and repair work. However i always seem to find it lacking details where i need it most (basic repair tasks that seem to be identical between manuals), and having way more details for jobs that i don't care about (totaly engine overhauls, etc. ).Pros:- Affordable Help for repair work- covers most repair topics you might care about- I have purchased several manuals for cars i have owned and found them all to be helpfull.Cons:- Says it covers multiple varients of the same model, but often has diagrams for only one of them.- Many of the more common repair tasks (brakes, oil change, body work, etc.. ) are heavily coppied between the vairous Haynes manuals for different models, so often lack spesific details that would be helpfull. You can usually overcome this with some common sense, but i have found several times wishing i new exactly where something was rather then them assuming i know where it is.- Lacks discussion on common problems encountered during repairs. Ie, would be nice to have advice on what to try if your break rotors are rusted on, etc. .

Useful for the Home Mechanic
It's OK, but the photos are pretty gray, and in some cases lack clarity. That said, it is definitely worth having for the home mechanic. There are many maintenance tasks he/she can do with this book as a reference. However, for the truly serious mechanic, you need to get the official shop manual set. I found a used copy through a seller here on Amazon. They go into great detail on just about every aspect of diagnosis and repair.

Useful but sometimes confusing
Very nice guide, I was able to do brake jobs, spark plugs, and other moderate-level maintenance tasks with confidence using the step-by-step instructions. But then, I sort of knew what I was doing before hand. The pictures, unfortunately, are not very clear. They show no context as to where in the engine you're looking most of the time, and the parts they mention by name are often not defined or labeled in the diagrams. Especially for torque specifications, this can be problematic. I had a bolt fall out a couple times because I wasn't clear on the difference between a "mounting bolt" and a "bracket mounting bolt" or something like that, and the correct choice was on a separate page so I didn't even notice it at first. A simple diagram labeling the parts they were referring to would have fixed that problem.Chilton manuals have a nice section at the beginning of every chapter explaining how the component works, usually with explanatory diagrams. This is missing from this Haynes manual, and would have helped a beginner like me out immensely.Still, I had several dog-eared and oil-stained sections by the time I sold my vehicle and stuffed the book in the glovebox. I saved tons of money from the confidence of having a manual to help me through repairs instead of shelling out $300 for a mechanic to do the same job I did for less than $100 for parts.

Technical Manual
This book covers most everything garage mechanics would tackle in their garages. The directions seem well written. I have referenced it a couple of times, and it helped out. The instructions can be a bit short though, and they tend to lack some details. Navigating the book can be really annoying. Some instructions stop mid-way, and direct you to a different part of the book. When looking for something specific, I have ended up flipping through the whole book looking for the directions. With that said, I don't think their is a better book out there. It is a good reference books to troubleshoot issues.

Some information not quite up to standards
I couldn't begin to count the number of these books I have owned in the past. And all have been outstanding, until this one. I have a 2001 Sport with an electrical system that is a freakin' nightmare from a previous owner that didn't have a clue on what they were doing [yellow & tan wire nuts DO NOT belong in a car], with me so far? The electrical schematics in this book are completely inadequate. They stop at 1995. You cannot tell me that Ford didn't change the specs over the life of this vehicle line. For when trying to trace wires thru a loom, what I'm looking at in the truck, AIN'T in the book. Pitiful.

Reasonable price
Looked good, but I need electrical schematics for Sport Trac and it wasn’t included

Exactly what I expected
I ordered this because I was looking for a Haynes Repair Manual for my 1999 Explorer XLT. I got exactly what I wanted. The book itself is a wonderful resource when doing repairs or looking for information on your vehicle. There is the odd time it is somewhat vague, but that is characteristic of a book covering a broad number of vehicle years. If you've got a 91-01 Explorer, and plan on doing any work yourself, grab a copy of this!

My vehicle is almost fixed!
Arrived as described and within the delivery estimate. A clear and concise book and although I bought this for my husband and even though I have no experience in looking at or mending vehicles I found the diagrams to be very clear and understandable. Thanks to this book hubby has almost fixed everything that needed attention on our 'new to us' car!
