Firstly, I am a lifetime electrician. These outlets are handy to eliminate leaving a charger plugged-in all the time. They definitely need a deep outlet box so they can fit into it, with the existing wires. They take up more space in the box than a GFCI receptacle. Many outlet boxes have more than one set of wires in it, making it even more fun to install. I tore out the existing boxes and installed "old work" boxes that are 3.5 inches deep (the depth of the space between the drywall in a double-wall house). Be careful not to damage the wallboard around the outlet box. If you are doing new work make sure you install deep boxes (22 cu in +), wherever you plan to install these receptacles. If you are not really handy with this type of work, get a professional electrician to install these receptacles for you.

As it says the outlet is very deep and the thing is very hard to install in a tight box.

The plug in the livingroom sits between our 2 recliners, and it had been slowly driving me insane over the past few years. I would plug in a cord, and it would either slowly begin to fall out, or at times it actually shot back out onto the floor. Maddening. So I knew I needed a new plug with sockets that weren't so loose, and I figured that as long as I was replacing it, I might as well go for the upgrade. The addition of usb ports solved another little problem we have here at the Nutthouse: vanishing charger adapters. This was easy to install, has been working great, and now- when I plug something in it actually STAYS plugged in!!! And i haven't had to go on an adapter hunt to charge my phone in ages. The current plan now is to slowly replace all the old outlets in my home with these!

I really like the fact that I don't need the AC adapter anymore for my devices. Got the two pack in January and both worked great and easy to install. However, this month in August I had a warranty issue with one of the outlets. I emailed MICMI on a Saturday and had a response within 30 minutes, WOW. They even requested a picture to make sure that my replacement would be the same. To my surprise the new outlet was delivered on Monday, granted the part was shipped from the same state I live in. Never had a company respond so quickly and without any issues. I will be purchasing two more of these in the near future. Thanks for the great service.

I bought these units to support my Echo Dot addiction. With limited outlets in my garage, powering my Dot without using a 110 slot is very useful. I just bought another Dot for the bedroom and needed space to power it and a cell phone yet still have power for a lamp and alarm clock. The first outlet I tried to install, the hot screw would not budge. This unit doesn't have a tension hold where you simply insert a wire in a hole and it stays. The hot and neutral screws have to be used to tighten the wires to the unit. Provided you strip the correct length, none of the bare wire is exposed outside the unit. Unlike normal 110 only outlets, you only get one set of screws. Consequently, since one screw was stripped, the outlet was useless and had to be returned. Return and refund was quick and simple. Ordered these with Prime same day delivery which is getting better. My past 3 same days have indeed been delivered by 9pm that day. Kudos Amazon. The outlet that does work is fine. It does what it should. One word of caution, this outlet is the size of a GFI outlet. If you have a lot of wires in your outlet box, you may have a difficult time getting this thing in and flush. Keep in mind, this is a commodity product, you will get a stinker every now and again, I get that, so I will likely buy more of these because they are almost a necessity these days if you want power more than your USB devices. Price is right and would probably recommend it to a friend.

I’ve had both these outlets for almost 3 years. One of them still works great, I have some regular and USB cords plugged into it permanently and the outlet has been working fine. However the other outlet the USB ports have stopped working. I noticed over the last couple months they were acting up a little bit, sometimes they would charge sometimes they wouldn’t, and now both have completely stopped working. I don’t leave any charging cord permanently plugged into this outlet because of where it is located. So typically at night I am plugging in USB cables to charge some of my work equipment for the next day. My assumption is these outlets don’t do great with unplugging and plugging in USB cords on a daily basis. It appears it wears them out. I would assume these outlet should last a good 5 to 10 years. so if you’re going to use it for cords that you leave plugged in most of the time then they should be fine. But if you’re going to be plugging and unplugging USB cords daily then the USB outlets might have issues.

I installed these in my older home myself. Was easy to install and work great. Only critique is that 1 of the sockets in 1 of the units is a bit tight when putting in the plugs

This outlet with USB is so convenient. Love this product! After about a week installed and in use I had problem with one of the outlets failing to charge in the USB ports. I contacted the seller via email and much to my surprise had a reply within a few hours. The seller replaced the item, I sent the defective one back and the replacement outlet has been working without a hitch.Great product. seller communication and support. I would rate this more than 5 stars if possible.Just buy the product. You will be happy you did.

This particular device with its USB charge capability is quite trick, isn't it? The market is also a swamp for the unwary. Its not just with these devices. Many folks just don't know about electronics. I remember getting into an argument with a sales rep years ago over a "200 watt" ghetto blaster that used 8 D cells for power. I told him that 2 was closer to the truth, and away we went around the prickly pear. But I was right. No matter how you try, you cannot bend physics.I reviewed a number of "USB Outlet Chargers" and the market has parallels to the above. First, you don't get what you pay for. Second, the spec for the USB port is 5 volts at 1 Amp. Thats IT. Less amperage is allowed, but any claims greater than 1 amp are irrelevant. Most devices will take a charge at about 400 ma. If the charging source cannot supply this, then it will take longer to charge, Some of these outlet USB chargers cannot provide the current. You'll read reports on other offerings where the charge time is much longer than expected.The reviewed offering operates as expected. Pay attention here. You CAN NOT use this as a kitchen split plug. This is a LARGE device that requires an average sized outlet box, and it will fill the box just like a GFI will. There are shallow outlet boxes out there in the wild and this device will NOT fit. If you cruise the available devices similar to this you will find shallower examples (less depth) and it is these examples that fail to charge within expected time frames. I also do not know if the device will accommodate a dual plate or more install. This device probably pushes the specs for an electrical box install right to the edge. Its about the size of a GFI or maybe a tad larger.Please do not ask me if xx device will work. This one does. If you want to get funky you can charge 4 devices off this outlet. THIS one operates properly and provides the required current to charge your stuff. Use any thing else, you are on your own.

I purchased this to declutter a spot in my kitchen where it seems like all our electronics (external batteries, bluetooth headphones etc) seem to like to hang out. The wife was getting angry at the clutter, so this was my solution.Pros:-Looks nice-Square, fits my existing decor-Charges at 1.4A, so you get decent charging speeds for your electronics-Can still hook a deep fryer up to it for an hour, no noticeable issueCons:-LARGE - With a marette on the neutral, I almost could not fit it in the 1110 box-The termination points for the hot and neutral are very close (the two hots are about 3mm apart, two neutrals are about 3mm apart) - Terminate with no copper showingOverall, a happy purchase. It makes it easy not to have to fumble for a charge, and charges fast enough to make sure my stuff is ready to go the next day.

The outlet comes as advertised for aesthetics and possible uses, yet is not a great product. The poor build does not allow for a strong or reliable connection with the wires that attach to the side screws. They will slip out during installation and if you dont catch that, it becomes very unsafe. The quality of the screw plates do not allow for the 2 wires per side, to be pinched well enough to stay in place. I am going to trash this product as I do not trust it in my home.

Installed receptacle by bedroom night table where it works perfectly. Charge rate is acceptable if you keep in mind this is not a high speed charger. Fit for these USB receptacles, regardless of type, in a standard outlet box is tight but workable; will not fit in a shallow box. I liked the wire connectors, very easy to connect multiple wires.

I purchased a early in 2019 and installed it within a few weeks. Worked great until Dec 2019 and now neither of the USB ports work anymore but the AC outlets are working. Does appear to be any support for replacement. So much for the 1 year warranty.
