We needed a new pair of meat shears, our last pair took a beating. I have never used this brand before, but the price point and reviews caught my eye. The tipping point for me was the blade cover, safety first. These things handle very well, feel solid, stainless steel construction, and have a nice ergonomic handle. Before I used them to cut or trim any food, I used them to cut some fabric. They did an excellent job. Very easy to clean and disinfect. They also slide into my knife block with the sheath on, another plus for me. I would recommend it and purchase again.Noticed some people complaining about rust. Here are some tips to extend the life and properly care for your shears. After every use, wash with soap and hot water. Make sure to reach the area between the blade and the handle. This is where bacteria can grow which might result in food contamination. Dry scissors by hand with a clean towel immediately after washing, especially the hard-to-reach areas. Even if they are made of premium stainless steel, oxidation takes place when there is moisture present, and rust may develop. Apply a small amount of food-grade mineral oil after drying, giving more importance to the screw and hinge areas. This ensures the blade to move smoothly and prevents oxidation when exposed to humid air. Started to rust on very first wash. It may have been my fault. I used them in salty water cutting up some fish I had just caught. I washed them that night thoroughly but there are rust marks on the blade and under the plastic area where it swivels. I have only used the scissors for 3 days.

The moment I opened the scissors from the package one of the grey circle popped off. I really didn't feel like returning it so I just kept is cause it was pretty cheap. So far it works well but just disappointed it fell apart so fast when opening it.UPDATE: Seller contacted me and offered to refund me my money or to replace the scissors. I got a refund cause I already bought another pair since then. It was very nice that they contacted me and felt very sorry that they broke on me so fast. There are a lot of good reviews on here so I guess I just got a runt out the the litter.

I am thrilled with the 2 kitchen scissors I received today from Spring Chef through amazon.com. I have been using a ‘Wustoff’ kitchen shears (excellent brand otherwise) for a while now, and because it comes apart into 2 pieces, it has unexpectedly separated and dropped to the floor, a few times point down! I wear flip-flops on our tile kitchen floor, and have luckily jumped out of the way, however the last recent time, was enough.I finally took the time to research another pair, and this brand fit all my criteria-- They did NOT come apart in two pieces; stainless steel for putting into the dishwasher, especially after cutting chicken (I’m sure they designed that for easy dishwasher loading, however that was never a problem); and SO reasonably priced that I decided to purchased two!Furthermore, this kitchen shears comes with its own safety case blade cover that snaps into place and will stay on in the utensil drawer. The overall quality, and this additional safety feature, impressed me.I love these scissors and look forward to relying on them daily as I enjoy cooking, and often need them for 2 separate uses the same day. Great product! By the way, I’ve already put the Wusthoff pair that separate, into the garbage, as I wouldn’t want anyone to whom I might have given them, to get hurt... Whew!

I had not bought this brand before, and bought several pieces, very impressed with the quality, seem very high end for an average price. The scissors are very sharp, I use them for my kitchen pair and it cuts Box tops from plastic like a champ, great scissors!

AMENDED: Changing my rating to 3 stars for customer service - After I wrote this review the company reached out to me, let me know they were going to research the problem, fully refunded my purchase and sent me a new pair of Kitchen Shears for free. EXCELLENT customer service - pro-active on their part - I will give the product another chance!!-------------------------------------------Bought these scissors as well as two other pairs of different brands all at the same time. Used all 3 pairs interchangeably in the kitchen and put them in the dishwasher as needed. These are the only ones that stopped working. How do scissors stop working? Well, impossible with 2 hands(!) to open let alone close the blades. I pried off the plastic that covers the metal rivet that holds the two blades together... sure enough it is rusted. Took the picture and threw this pair away.Recommend the Kitchen-Aid brand...it is still functioning as expected.

This spring chef shears is incredibly wonderful It's sharp as a razor, fits comfortably inmy hands and has the perfect weight. I cut cabbage leaves with thick ribs with suchease. Love that I don't have to take out a cutting board. The fact that I cansubmerge it in water with absolutely no fear or rust is a great plus! Will eventually buy more as gifts.Excellent communication from topnotch owner! 5 shining stars across the board!!

Purchased this product last year so no return remedy. Arthritis in my hands makes it difficult to open water bottles so sometimes I use what I assumed was the bottle opener function of the scissors. See the teeth in the handle? The plastic handle broke obviously because the metal frame does not extend through a critical pressure point. If the designers chose to include those metal teeth perhaps they should have tested the product on a water bottle cap. The "Lifetime Warranty" listed at the bottom of, "About this item", is upon investigation only 60 days. I consider this, deceptive Bait and Switch advertising. I use these shears for all my needs: Cutting packages, pizza and chicken. It is comfortable on the hands. I wanted to buy separate shears for the different uses I have, however they are very versatile. They cut well and are very easy to keep clean.

Good product. Too big for what I wanted.
