Aircast AirSport Ankle Support Brace, Left Foot, X-Large

I fractured my calcaneus (heal bone) about 15 years ago and in the past several years, now in my early 60's, the pain has become awful due to gradual joint space narrowing and subtalar arthritis, as I was warned would probably happen at the time. Every step I take now aches, and at times it's so bad I struggle to put any weight at all on it, which causes limping and pain to gradually spread up to my ankle/lower leg, plus right leg muscle deterioration due to holding back from putting weight on it. I had the Aircast 60 which was great at first but not good enough anymore. I thought I'd try this, not expecting much difference really, and the moment I put it on and took my first few steps I couldn't believe it! Pain reduced immediately by around 80%! I'm kind of shocked really, and so very happy.

I sized up (should be a med. becuase I am a size 10 shoe, bought a large) and it was way too big on the bottom. I felt as if it were too tight at the top and not actually supporting my sprained ankle. Once I bought the right size, it’s really helping support my ankle. One thing is the straps on the back scratch my skin.

My daughter who is 11 loves her football but was suffering by rolling her left ankle with alarming regularity. Normal support tubigrip style bandages were a waste of time, and the other sock type products seemed little more than a stiffer tubigrip. Since purchasing this my daughter hasn’t rolled her ankle once which has allowed her to play unrestricted. She was a little worried about the appearance of it and it feeling bulky, however with shin pads and football socks on it’s barely noticeable to other people so I believe it is well worth it. It’s literally impossible for her to roll her ankle now! Was quite expensive however happy to pay for her not to hurt herself doing something she loves.

I tore my post tibia tendon and wanted to avoid surgery to fuse my ankle. After using a cam boot for eight weeks, my surgeon gave me one of these to try. It’s very supportive, helps with relieving some pain. I remove it to shower & after eight months I can now sleep without it & can walk a short distance to the restroom. I have three of these so I always have a clean one available. I also wear a light weight sock under the brace and another light weight over the top to ease the brace cutting into my foot & leg. The sock over the brace makes it easier to put my foot in my athletic shoe.
