Works well, easy setup & use, WiFi & USB connections
I’ve had this printer for about a month. So far so good. The setup process was super easy and probably only took about 15-20 mins max. It works great and I had no issues connecting via WiFi. I like that it has a USB connection option - which many don’t - in case I have issues in the future with WiFi printing. While there are a lot of buttons on the printer itself leading to an over complicated interface, it’s actually very easy to use. The print quality has also been great so far. It prints colors nicely though I mainly use for black and white. Knock on wood, I’ve also had no error messages. While it’s obviously not for big jobs, it prints pretty quickly all things considered. While I can’t speak to its longevity given the limited time I’ve owned it, I will note that the printer tray is not made out of the most durable plastic. I accidentally damaged the tray during set up when a tiny little plastic piece (the hinge) broke off, so now the tray doesn’t extend all the way out. This was not because it was hard to install the tray, rather I was just being careless and bent it in the wrong direction like an idiot. Fortunately, it has not caused any issues with printing.Overall, this printer has done its job well so far and provides good value considering the price point. If you searching for a home office printer and getting sick of reading way too many reviews that led me to believe they all sucked, then I would recommend ending your search and getting this one.

This printer is a real bargain.
This printer arrived overnight and I set it up before breakfast the next day. Followed the instructions and the whole setup process took about thirty minutes. I loaded some paper, plugged it in, and then inserted the ink cartridges. They were pretty easy to install and afterwards, the printer did the rest and soon a test sheet was printed. Setting up Wi-Fi was easy, too. I went online and connected it to my iMac, then set up my iPhone with the app so I can print from there, too. The machine is fairly compact and fits in my cabinet nicely with room to spare. Paper is loaded from the front and prints are received from the front, except when you use the scanner or top load your originals. Overall, it's pretty well designed. Bought an extra set of ink cartridges, too. You can sign-up for a subscription service for your ink cartridges to be delivered if you want. Brother will monitor your usage and send them accordingly. We might try that later. Ink jet printers are supposed to be used at least once a week to prevent the ink heads from clogging up. Print quality is superb so far. Highly recommend this printer.

Excellent little inexpensive ALL-IN-ONE
This all-in-one does everything a home office could need. It Prints both sides, it scans both sides, and it copies both sides. You can connect using the USB to your main system while using Wi-Fi to connect with your phones, tablets...you name it. If that's not enough, it's a flipping fax machine as well. It's the perfect, affordable solution to an all-in-one. The image quality is fantastic and the prints look amazing. BUT...this is a cheap, flimsy, plastic device so in no way can it handle commercial duties. The paper tray, document feeder, keypad and display absolutely feel cheap and no doubt, the moment you handle them, you know they could be easily broken...so care must be taken when loading paper or loading documents for printing/scanning. If your name is Shrek or Bull-in-china-shop or you have one of these in your household, get a commercial unit that can handle abuse cause this one cannot! I give it 5-stars because for what it is, it's the very best at it!!!

Good printer, sucks ink
I do like Brother printers, and this one is high on the list. Easy to set up (I added a wifi range extender to give uninterrupted wifi to my phone) easy to understand. I am a HEAVY printer for just a few weeks of a year. This machine ran non stop for a few hours, and did get to the "grey" phase of print quality that all Brother mfc machines seem to get. I may be able to adjust density/quality if I use a pc. I was able to make decent additional copies using the copy function and increasing density. But that causes increased ink use. I went through the included black cartridge AND an "XL" black cartridge. The XL cartridges only allow 250 pages - not as XL as I need. While I am intrigued by the auto refill option offered by Brother, I am unsure as to which level I should get. It will automatically increase your level based on what you print, but won't automatically reduce that level based on reduced use. And it is a bit intrusive, knowing a company can see how much I print. That option can be turned off in the mobile connect app though. The machine CAN easily 2 sided print, but in order to do 2 sided copying, you either need to put each side on the glass, or run the machine as 1 side to 2 side. The ADF is very good using 24lb paper, with printing being speedy. The lower tray can barely hold 150 sheets, fewer means no jams.I haven't scanned yet, but the machine apparently can scan direct to a file without futzing with another program. We use our mfc-j6920dw for faxing. But the color touchscreen and nice buttons on the 1010 would make faxing a breeze. The machine has a small footprint and runs quietly. The wireless functions are good with the wifi extender, and the mobile app is very nice with my S24+ phone. I can print right from my Google Drive, very handy for me. Ink prices vary, but the LC401 cartridges are available in plenty. I got 5 xl black cartridges for under $40, a nice deal. I'm still on the "starter" color cartridges. For the price, this machine is quite good.
