Amazing Resource!
This book is an amazing resource for those growing cut flowers either professionally or in their home garden. Organized alphabetically by genus, the authors discuss each plant from seed to harvest, including all the information you'd find on the back of the seed packet and tips for getting the most from your flowers. The range of flowers in the book is wide, but not exhaustive. However, I do feel that the authors chose the right ones to include based on sales, design work, and current floral trends. A great find!

Great book for a hobbyist too
I've recently developed an interest in growing cut flowers at home, for fun and for my church. One can appreciate but yet get a bit bored with the usual Costco cut flower offerings.... I've watched innumerable YouTube videos and bought other books on this topic, but I really like this book for its conciseness and the author's amusing "color commentary" about individual flower species. Highly recommend.

Basic and not well written
This book had a lot of good reviews but it is not well written and is unnecessarily repetative, so you are not actually getting very much information. In addition, there is no information on actual post handeling requirements. There is a section for each flower but it only lists vase life. The references are mostly websites that you can easily access yourself. For the cost, it is very disappointing.

great book for the serious flower gardener
If you have a lot of questions about the flowers you grow this book can give you the answers. It offers all type of info, days to germinate, spacing, to pinch or not, days to harvest, stem length, succession planting, cut and come again, etc, etc.

This book is EXCELLENT! Even for the home gardener!
I absolutely adore how this book is laid out. The format gets an A+++ from me. There are so many horticulture books that I would love to read if they were laid out like this!I have only been gardening for about five years, and I am not a specialty cut flower grower, but I do love growing many of the flowers in this book. This is such a helpful field guide for folks like myself who just need a quick, reliable reference to answer seemingly simple questions. When should I start seeds for sunflowers or cosmos or poppy’s? If you Google it, you’ll get an infinite number of answers from inexperienced folks. I can take a quick peek in my field guide, and get that answer - and KNOW that it’s backed by someone who actually knows what they’re talking about! Dr A is a titan in the horticulture world. He and Kelly Garcia have jam packed this book with so much helpful information. The pictures are also stunning, I love flipping through the book for new things I’ve never grown. I heard about this book from the owner of Flower Hill Farm NY, Nicole Pitt. Thanks Nicole!
